Our Traffic Signal Seminar Series will be held in Spencer this year. They will be of interest to engineers, technicians and contractors responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of traffic signals and traffic safety related systems.
There is no charge for the training and course materials. A light lunch will be served daily. However, everyone is responsible for their own lodging and transportation, etc. If you are an engineer or IMSA member, your time at these seminars may count towards your Professional Development.
We look forward to seeing you!
Cabinet Maintenance: We will focus on cabinet maintenance: Preventative Maintenance, Trouble Shooting (Flashing Indications, Monitor Testing, Wiring, Event Logs, etc.). We will also be discussing Operations, Signal Timing, Documentation and How to Read a Print. We will also cover Management of Systems; when to repair and when to replace.
Emerging Technology: We will be looking at what has or is changing in the industry and how it affects you. The expectation is that you will have a basic understanding of the technology and definitions. When your City Administrators, Mayor or City Council people start hearing about these things you will already know about them and have the resources to move forward. Changes in detection, classifications, communications, power management as well as Connected Vehicle, V2I and Autonomous vehicle technologies.
Maintenance Beyond the Cabinet: We will be focusing on maintaining ancillary equipment: Detection (video, loops, etc.), Power Management (UPS, BBU), Communications, Poles, Mast Arms, Buttons, Safety Equipment (Warning Systems, HAWK, Flashing Beacons, High Water Detection, Radar Signs, etc).
Seminar Wrap Up: Bringing it all together: Being prepared today, tomorrow and beyond. We will discuss budgeting, Grants, Advocacy (IMSA, AASHTO, FHWA, ITS, etc).
